Amanda Elosa (Santos, 1993) is a brazilian visual artist and researcher.
She holds a degree in Communication from the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing and a postgraduate degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado.
Moving between image, object, and word, her artistic practice is dedicated to understanding human relationships of affection throughout history. She approaches love as a kind of universal language, capable of being understood regardless of context, territory, or culture.
Throughout her research, she came to understand that love is not only a subjective experience, but also a practice that leaves material traces and testimonies. She then began to search for the remnants of this materiality across history, in an attempt to record memory and affection through objects.
Between image and word, Elosa draws simultaneously on irony and sensitivity to address both new — and old — ways of loving.
She has presented work at Maus Hábitos (PT), Museu de Arte Contemporânea de São Paulo (BR), Museu de Arte Brasileira (BR), Hangar (PT), Yellow Cube (FR), and Ateliê 397 (BR), among others. She has participated in artistic residencies such as HANGAR in Lisbon, Kaaysá in Boiçucanga, R.A.R.O in Barcelona, and L’OpenBach in Paris.
She lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal.
